About our work
New Perimeter worked with the US Department of Commerce's Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) to advise on the revision of Pakistan's intellectual property laws. The project was carried out in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the United States Patent and Trademark Office and leading Pakistani intellectual property lawyers. A team of DLA Piper lawyers undertook a comprehensive review of the Intellectual Property Organization Act of Pakistan, as well as the Trademark, Copyright and Patent Ordinances to help improve the regulatory framework for the protection of Intellectual Property in Pakistan, thereby providing a more favorable trade and economic position for the country.

- Attend workshops with key stakeholders in Dubai and Istanbul
Key facts
- The goal of this project was to help improve the regulatory framework for the protection of IP in Pakistan to bring it into compliance with international IP treaties and to provide a more favorable trade and economic position for the country.
- As a result of the team's work, the USTR upgraded Pakistan's status in its report on the global state of intellectual property rights.
