Building Capacity to Negotiate Government Contracts in East Africa
In conversion with Adam Haque

1. What inspired you during the project?

The dedication of the participants, who would typically be attentively listening and engaged with our presentations, actively negotiating in the afternoons and completing their work in the evenings for four days. They weren’t afraid to ask questions and really get into some very complex topics, so it really speaks to their professionalism and dedication. They had a lot of pride in their participation, they helped and supported their team members and were even sometimes seen helping the other side of the negotiation. It was a very positive, learning-charged environment.

2. What was the most fulfilling aspect of the work?

Learning about the roles of the participants in their government organizations, which are actually similar to our role as legal advisor to some of our clients. So it was very rewarding to discuss with them strategies/ideas of how they could elevate the importance of their legal inputs in the projects their governments do, to ensure the best outcome for their countries.

3. What one word describes your New Perimeter trip?

Invigorating.
