Assisting an International Development Organization with Structuring its Micro-lending Initiatives
As one of it’s first projects, New Perimeter assisted CHF International, a non-profit humanitarian aid and international development organization, with its micro-lending program. The program stimulated entrepreneurial activity in developing countries by providing very small loans to small businesses to help them with start-up or expansion costs or to individuals for housing/home improvement. As part of this project, New Perimeter lawyers examined the legal structures of CHF's eleven micro-lending institutions, and explored ways to create sustainable funding options for the continuation and expansion of CHF's micro-lending programs. The New Perimeter team helped CHF create a stand-alone entity controlled by CHF in order to consolidate its microfinance operations and facilitate attracting a broader donor base.
