Jeremy participated in a New Perimeter project at the University of Pretoria in South Africa where he taught graduate law students from over 14 different African countries in international trade and economic development. The University program, which is designed to expose some of Africa's leading young minds to the legal and practical aspects of international trade and economic development, recognizes that economic development is fundamental to the cementing of stable and peaceful societies. The course aims to develop the skills and capacity of Africa's future leaders, and to help equip them with the tools necessary to enhance their country's economic development and promote the rule of law.

The week long course, which forms part of the University's LLM in International Trade and Investment in Africa, has been developed and taught by an international team of DLA Piper lawyers. It examines a number of different aspects of international trade and development law including its history, policy and rationale, and discusses best practices for enhancing the reputation and credibility of governments and regulators and building investor confidence.

In his daily practice, Jeremy coordinates and helps lead DLA Piper's development efforts and initiatives cultivating international business emanating from Israel. He assists Israeli clients seeking legal guidance in foreign jurisdictions and provides guidance to non-Israeli clients evaluating business relationships and strategic partners within Israel. He has developed a strong international network of Israeli companies, investors, entrepreneurs, bankers, accountants and local lawyers, and is in regular contact with DLA Piper lawyers from across the globe.

"Jeremy is the perfect choice for a program like this,” said Lisa Dewey, Director of New Perimeter. “His work as a corporate lawyer has seen him involved in matters in over 35 different jurisdictions and he has worked with clients from a huge range of sectors, from venture capital and private equity funds to institutional real estate investors via biotech, high tech, defense and food and beverage clients. His wealth of experience means that he is uniquely placed to provide a practical view of the key drivers of international trade and foreign investment as well as the challenges and solutions facing investors ".

Jeremy has a strong community ethic and has worked with his local community in a number of capacities from providing pro bono advice to being a board member for organizations like Simcha Layeled, an Israeli nonprofit institution focused on assisting disabled and seriously ill children and Kemp Mill Synagogue, in Silver Spring, Maryland. His involvement in a New Perimeter project in South Africa was a natural extension of his desire to engage with and serve the world around him.
